Teen Found Dead in Southeast Dallas

A victim who was killed in Southeast Dallas has been identified by the Dallas Police Department as 17-year-old Kendreal Jones. 

The teenager was found inside of a vehicle Tuesday, just before 2 p.m. The incident happened in the 400 block of North Jim Miller Rd. 

Police believe Jones was shot by someone from another vehicle. He was taken to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead. 

The shooting in Councilman Tennell Atkin’s District 8 comes amid a marked spike in violent crime in Dallas since the new year began. This was the third killing within 24 hours in the city. So far in 2023, there have been 347 violent crimes reported, according to DPD data. 

No arrests have been made yet in the shooting of Kendreal Jones, and DPD is asking anyone with information to contact Detective Patty Belew at 214-422-9275 or [email protected] in reference to case number 005787-2023.
