Garland Police Department utilized its SWAT team to arrest a wanted felon on Tuesday who had warrants for family violence assault with prior convictions and aggravated sexual assault of a child.
Manuel Acosta De La Sancha, 37, was arrested at a residence in the 3400 block of Hillsdale Lane on March 14. Officers observed him enter the home around noon Tuesday. Due to the violent nature of De La Sancha’s past and alleged offenses, SWAT was activated “out of an abundance of caution.”
The department reported that SWAT gave De La Sancha multiple commands to exit the residence, with which he eventually complied.
De La Sancha is being held without bond at the Garland Detention Center.
In a brief interview with The Dallas Express, Garland’s Lt. Richard Maldonado described the incident:
“[Garland police] happened to be in the area and saw him enter the house. Given that we knew he was there and wanted on the two charges, we called SWAT when he refused to come out of the house. Fortunately, he eventually came out before we had to go in.”
