A man wanted for a Pleasant Grove murder was arrested in New Mexico, police said Tuesday.

On February 3, at about 12:30 a.m., officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 10000 block of Grove Oaks Boulevard, near Masters Drive and Elam Road.

Upon arrival, a woman identified as 47-year-old Margarita Rodriguez Pagoaga was found lying on the ground in front of her home, suffering from a gunshot wound.

She was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Police concluded that the shooting was apparently a case of domestic violence and identified Jose Manuel Mendez as a suspect several days later.

Mendez was picked up by authorities on a murder charge in connection with the death. Police, however, did not divulge information as to when he was taken into custody. It is also not known if he has an attorney.

What is clear is that he awaits extradition to Texas.
