An arrest has been made following the road-rage killing of 21-year-old Aurimar Iturriago in the early morning hours of October 29.

Shardrel Damon Webb, a 25-year-old Dallas man, is facing a murder charge after Carrollton police say he allegedly fatally shot Iturriago.

Officers responded to 3535 County Square Drive shortly after midnight on October 29 after a 9-1-1 caller reported a woman had been shot.

Iturriago, from Venezuela, was a passenger in the back seat of a white Nissan when the driver became involved in a traffic dispute with the occupants of a black Volkswagen Jetta. The incident began at Marsh and Keller Springs and ended at Marsh and Country Square Drive.

The Nissan driver told officers that a man driving a Jetta followed him and fired shots at the vehicle, striking Iturriago.

Responding officers located the Jetta and its driver near the scene of the shooting. Webb was apprehended and initially taken to the Carrollton City Jail before being transported to the Dallas County Jail, where he is currently held on a $300,000 bond.

Iturriago was pronounced dead at the scene despite the efforts of responding officers and Carrollton Fire-Rescue, NBC News reported.

There were no other injuries reported in either vehicle.

Friends of the victim told WFAA News that Iturriago had arrived in the U.S from Venezuela in June,  intending to help her family whom she left behind.

“Her dream was to help her family. She wanted to buy a home for her mom, who didn’t have a house, a kitchen, not even a fridge; she wanted to help her mom with that,” her friend said.

“We were concerned [about] what her family was going to think. We received her here alive, and now we are sending her back to them dead. It’s painful,” Iturriago’s friend told WFAA.

Investigators did not say what sparked the argument or whether the people in the vehicles knew each other. It is also unknown how many shots were fired. The investigation into the fatal shooting is still underway.
