Dallas Police have arrested a suspect in connection with the slaying of a man inside a Family Dollar according to a news release.

Diavian Roberts, 22, was arrested Sunday night by the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force and charged with the murder of 46-year-old Tenery Walker.

On December 1, 2022, at approximately 5:33 p.m., Dallas Police responded to a shooting call at the Family Dollar Store located at 1928 E. Ledbetter Drive.

When they arrived, officers found Walker, a Family Dollar employee, with a gunshot wound inside the back of the store. Walker was transported by Dallas Fire and Rescue to a local hospital, where he died.

The victim had reportedly asked Roberts to leave the store. Roberts allegedly shot Walker in the ensuing confrontation, then ran from the location. The suspect remained at large for almost a week.

Detectives obtained surveillance video from the scene. In the video, Roberts can be seen entering the store but standing in the doorway, appearing to talk to someone, presumably Walker. Walker had reportedly asked Roberts to leave the store at least once previously. In the second portion of the video, Roberts can be seen walking from the back of the store.

This is the second shooting that has taken place at a local Family Dollar in a span of two weeks. As The Dallas Express has previously reported, Phillip Betts, 26, was shot and killed by a customer in a South Oak Cliff location on Tuesday, November 29. Betts was reportedly engaged in an altercation with two female employees who had accused him of shoplifting.

Walker’s family told FOX 4 the 46-year-old had been working at the Family Dollar for only a few months. He leaves behind five children and two stepchildren.

Roberts is also suspected of a second murder that occurred over the weekend. Lancaster Police told the Dallas Police Department that a murder occurred on Saturday at a gas station. After reviewing surveillance footage and comparing it with the footage from the Family Dollar incident, police identified Roberts as their suspect in the second case. Roberts is accused of shooting 46-year-old Ronnie Wilson multiple times after an argument.

Roberts has been charged with a second count of murder for the slaying of Wilson and is currently being held in the Dallas County Jail with a bond set at $1 million.

1 million is not enough, he murdered two people who deserve to live a quality life. One gentleman trying too make a living for his seven children. If he was talking care of two children who were not his biological children, he is the father.

We as parents are unleashing terror on the streets. Twenty two years old and full of hate and rage. He has probably been raining terror on the community. Give him a chance, did he give a father and a man buying gas a chance?

Where did he get a gun, from the State of Texas who lets the NRA terrorize the the street as they hide behind their gated community. Former Councilman Carroway begged the cities not to allow curfews to be eliminated because older people will take advantage of them. Who ever allowed Mr. Robert’s to get a gun, is as responsible for his crimes.

I have noticed that since Governor Abbot allows any citizen to be armed the shootings have skyrocketed. Maybe the Governor should be charged as an accessory to the murders.

Family Dollar should have armed security to protect their workers. This is too much. I am relieved that the perp is in custody.
