The crash, which occurred around 7:40 p.m. on May 11 on Second Avenue near Cauthorn Drive, killed 59-year-old Jose Ambrocio Medina Soto. Police say Clark, driving a black Cadillac, was racing a blue Ford Fusion driven by Kadishjah Jackson, 31, when the collision occurred.
Surveillance video from a nearby business captured the incident. It showed the Fusion crossing into oncoming traffic and striking Soto’s pickup truck while the Cadillac fled the scene.
According to an arrest warrant affidavit, the Fusion was traveling at approximately 87 mph five seconds before the crash and 78 mph about one second before impact in a 30 mph zone, Fox 4 KDFW reported. The collision caused the Fusion to flip, trapping Jackson and her two passengers. Soto was killed in the crash.
Jackson, who was hospitalized after the incident, was arrested upon her release and faces charges of manslaughter, aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, racing on a highway causing bodily injury, and two counts of racing on a highway causing serious bodily injury. Her combined bonds total $1 million.
Police obtained surveillance images of Clark, her vehicle, and her license plate number before she turned herself in. Authorities say Clark and her passengers were seen on video abandoning the Cadillac after the crash, leaving a child behind in the vehicle. Crime Stoppers had offered a $5,000 reward for information leading to Clark’s arrest and indictment.
The Dallas Police Department continues to investigate the incident.
