On June 30, the Dallas Police Department arrested a second person in connection to the theft of Amazon vans, thanks to a tip provided through Crime Stoppers.
As reported by The Dallas Express, authorities identified 36-year-old Mical Ford as a person of interest in a series of thefts involving Amazon vehicles.
The Southeast Patrol’s Crime Response Team arrested Ford’s alleged accomplice, Nakemia Bryant, 42, on March 25, in the 2900 block of Cottonwood Lane.
Bryant had been arrested on an outstanding warrant from Balch Springs for driving while intoxicated. Following her arrest, Dallas PD’s Financial Crimes Unit-Organized Retail Crime Squad interviewed Bryant, who admitted her involvement in five Amazon van thefts. Bryant told investigators that she carried out the thefts with Ford.
Detectives from Dallas PD executed a search warrant on Bryant’s residence and found several open boxes addressed to other people.
Dallas police could not locate Ford and asked for the public’s help apprehending the 36-year-old. Authorities soon hit the jackpot when a tipster called Crime Stoppers on Thursday, June 30, with a lead on Ford’s location.
The Fugitive Unit and Dallas Police patrol officers arrested Ford on multiple warrants and booked him into the Dallas County Jail.
Ford and Bryant are alleged to have been involved in the following thefts:
- January 28, 2022 – 8200 block of Goldfield Drive 017092-2022
- February 15, 2022 – 1100 block N. St. Augustine Drive 028026-2022
- March 11, 2022 – 1900 block of Bennet Avenue 043141-2022
- March 16, 2022 – 10200 Tokowa Drive 046321-2022
- March 22, 2022 – 10300 block of Nantucket Village Ct. 050112-2022
Dallas police added that the pair allegedly assaulted one of the van’s drivers on one occasion.
Dallas police located all five Amazon trucks. However, authorities said packages valued at over $15,000 were still missing.
Ford is now facing four felony counts of theft of property, two counts of robbery, and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
It’s unclear if his bail has been set or whether he has any legal representative.
