Police in Dallas impounded 11 all-terrain vehicles and arrested a man Sunday amid reports of widespread street racing and hazardous ATV operations across the city.

The Street Racing Task Force and patrol units fielded several complaints about the illegal activities on January 25, leading to the vehicle seizures at the city’s auto pound.

Around 2:29 p.m., responders headed to the 400 block of North Good Latimer Expressway and 2600 Elm Street in response to reports of ATVs obstructing traffic. Upon arrival, they spotted a white Jeep Wrangler executing spins in the intersection. During the stop, a child was found in the vehicle.

The 23-year-old driver, Eber J. Rosario Soto, faced charges of endangering a child by criminal negligence, unlawful carrying of a weapon, and reckless driving. He was booked into Dallas County Jail. The matter is logged as case number 011900-2026.

About an hour later, at 3:35 p.m., the task force addressed more reports in the central patrol zone and downtown business district. In the 200 block of July Alley, a cluster of ATVs sat unlawfully in the street without registration tags. Authorities towed seven of them. That event is under case number 011924-2026.

Further incidents in the 800 block of South Riverfront resulted in three more unregistered ATVs being hauled away.

“While our officers are working around the clock responding to hazardous winter weather, choosing to street race is not just reckless, it’s dangerous and irresponsible. This behavior puts lives at risk and will not be tolerated in Dallas,” said Chief Comeaux.

The department plans to keep targeting such violations to protect the public and minimize road dangers.
