Law enforcement officials in Forest Hill are investigating a tragic shooting that claimed the lives of local rapper Ronnie Smith, known as Lil Ronnie, and his 5-year-old daughter at a car wash Monday morning.
The shooting occurred just before 11 a.m. at a car wash located in the 6500 block of Forest Hill Drive, where Smith and his daughter were shot while inside their vehicle.
Forest Hill Police Department confirmed that they have identified one of the suspects in connection with the killings but have not released the suspect’s name or any details on the second potential suspect. The motive for the attack remains unclear, and authorities have not disclosed whether Smith directly knew the shooters or not, per The Dallas Morning News.
Witnesses told police that two Black males, dressed in blue jeans and gray sweaters, exited a white four-door Kia and approached Smith’s vehicle, which was parked in one of the car wash bays. The suspects then opened fire on Smith and his young daughter before fleeing the scene.
Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
As of Monday evening, police were searching for the second suspect, though it was unclear if he had been identified, according to DMN. Forest Hill Police Department has issued a capital murder arrest warrant for the identified suspect, though no charges have been announced for the other individual allegedly involved in the crime.
