Dallas Police are searching for two suspects after an attempted carjacking occurred in a small shopping center on Friday, December 30, police said.
Police were called to 5600 West Lovers Lane, located in district 13 of Dallas city council member Gay Donnell Willis, for a reported shooting that occurred just after 6:30 p.m. As previously reported by The Dallas Express, crime is a problem in Dallas — something must be done. The incident happened between Inwood and the Dallas North Tollway, just west of University Park.
Dallas Police told The Dallas Express that three suspects attempted to carjack the victim, and one suspect was shot by an otherwise uninvolved party during the carjacking attempt.
The suspects threatened the victim and fired at the victim using a short-barreled rifle.
The suspect that was shot was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment and is listed in stable condition. There were no other reported injuries.
A nearby witness told Fox 4 News Dallas that he and his family hid in the kitchen of the restaurant Odelay when the rifle was fired.
“Well, I was sitting there on my computer, working on my website, and then I heard several gunshots like in a row,” recalled Peyton Baker, who works nearby.
“First off, it sounded like it was like right in front of my building, and I was like, wow, I hope they didn’t see me like before I just jumped down here.”
The investigation is ongoing.
