The Dallas Police Department (DPD) is seeking assistance from the community related to an ongoing investigation after a man was found shot to death.

Officers from DPD responded to a call on February 5, 2023, at about 11:21 p.m. in the 2500 block of Perryton Drive, according to a news release.

When officers arrived on the scene, they found a man lying unconscious, suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency responders from Dallas Fire Rescue arrived on the scene to offer treatment, but the victim died.

“The preliminary investigation determined a man was shot in an apartment by an unknown suspect,” the Dallas Police Department explained in the press release.

The investigation is currently active and ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Romano at 214-671 4096 or email him at [email protected].

Additionally, Crime Stoppers will pay up to $5,000 for helpful information that assists law enforcement by leading to the arrest and indictment for this felony offense and other felony offenses. Call Crime Stoppers at 214-373-TIPS (8477), 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The Dallas Express contacted the Dallas Police Department for additional information, but none was available at this time.

The shooting incident occurred in District 3, which is overseen by Dallas City Council Member Casey Thomas II.

Thomas has been the subject of The Dallas ExpressCrime Boss Series, and his district suffered from the first shooting death of 2023. Additionally, a woman was recently shot in a drive-by in Thomas’ district, as reported by The Dallas Express.

The Dallas Express reached out to Councilman Thomas and Texas Gun Sense for comment but did not hear back by the time of publication.
