A man was found suffering from a single gunshot wound while in his vehicle according to a news release from the Dallas Police Department.

When officers arrived on the scene, they found that the victim, now identified as 33-year-old Khurram Ali, had been shot, police said.

Dallas Fire and Rescue transported the victim to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries.

The shooting occurred on Thursday, January 19, at approximately 10:45 p.m. at 5900 N. Central Expressway.

The shooting took place at the expressway inside District 14, which is represented by Dallas City Councilman Paul Ridley, who announced he is running for reelection amidst a spike in robberies.

Ridley was also The Dallas Express’ Crime Boss runner-up, and he attended an all-ages drag show last weekend that had children in attendance.

The Dallas Express contacted the Dallas Police Department for additional information and comment about the shooting but had not heard back at the time of print.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Timothy Johnston at 214-671-3523 or at [email protected].

Crime Stoppers will pay up to $5,000 for information called in that leads to the arrest and indictment for this felony offense and other felony offenses. Call Crime Stoppers at 214-373-TIPS (8477), 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

What the hell does attending a drag show have to do with a shooting in Dallas? It’s terrible someone died, but the fact that Ridley attended a drag show has nothing to do with his performance on the council. He is D14 and D14 is a diverse group of constituents of which he supports. Please report the news and keep your opinions/commentary to yourself.

How do people like Ridley get elected to public office?

Maybe Ridley could step up and denounce the crime and meet with Police and mental health officials instead of attending sketch parties as he panders to half his voters. Just a thought.
