(Texas Scorecard) – A former Central Texas school employee is facing felony charges over allegations she sexually groomed an underage high school student via Snapchat and was caught on camera kissing the juvenile while on campus.
Marissa Juarez, 27, was arrested and charged with child grooming and online solicitation of a minor. Both are third-degree felonies punishable by 2 to 10 years in prison.
Juarez began working as an administrative assistant at Pflugerville High School in Pflugerville Independent School District, located in a suburb north of Austin, in August 2024.
Arrest records indicate the alleged crimes began in November 2024 and continued into 2025.
Juarez was arrested on May 2.
On April 23, a parent of the student—described as a “juvenile” under the age of 17—reportedly provided police with “55 screenshots of sexually explicit Snapchat messages” between the student and Juarez.
According to arrest affidavits, Juarez used the social media app to describe sexual fantasies, including kissing at school.
Juarez allegedly told the student “not to tell anyone they kissed” and said she was “scared she may get fired and they cannot kiss at school anymore due to the cameras.”
A school surveillance camera reportedly caught the school employee and student kissing on campus on April 22.
A statement from Pflugerville ISD’s Chief Communications Officer Tamra Spence indicated that Juarez was placed on administrative leave as soon as the allegations were reported and the matter was “promptly referred to law enforcement for investigation.”
Spence stated that Juarez is no longer employed by Pflugerville ISD as of April 28.
“The safety and well-being of our students is our highest priority,” Spence added—a standard statement from school officials following allegations of educators abusing students.
“We are fully cooperating with law enforcement authorities as they continue their investigation,” the district’s statement concluded. “Due to the ongoing nature of the legal process and privacy considerations, we cannot provide further details at this time.”
Juarez is scheduled to appear in court on May 27. She is not currently listed as “under investigation” in the Do Not Hire Registry of individuals not eligible to be employed by a Texas public school.
