An “unclothed male” reportedly stole an ambulance from a hospital in Mesquite and led police on a chase before being arrested in Kaufman County on Monday, officials said.

Mesquite police responded to a call about an “unclothed male” who was transported to Dallas Regional Medical Center on Galloway Avenue. Witnesses said the man got into an Allegiance Mobile Health ambulance and drove away. Officers located the vehicle a short time later and attempted to stop the driver, but he fled, police said.

The chase continued along Interstate 20 until Terrell police and Kaufman County deputies deployed spike strips near I-20 and County Road 310, disabling the ambulance near Talty, Texas. WFAA chopper footage showed the Allegiance Mobile Health vehicle off the side of a road in Kaufman County.

Police said the suspect was arrested after a brief foot pursuit. No injuries or crashes were reported during the incident.

The suspect’s identity has not been released, and police have not disclosed what charges he may face.
