Juries in Denton and Collin counties sent two pedophiles to prison after they were convicted of sexually assaulting children.
A Repeat Offender
A Collin County jury sentenced 66-year-old David Sanchez to life in prison for repeatedly assaulting an 11-year-old girl, the district attorney’s office announced on October 14.
“Because of this brave young victim and the tireless work of Princeton police and our prosecution team, this predator will never again be free to harm another child,” Collin County District Attorney Greg Willis said in a press release. “Our community is safer for it.”
A neighbor became concerned after seeing Sanchez near the girl at a bus stop in September 2024, giving her candy, money, and toys. He told the child not to tell anyone. Despite his instructions, the girl told her mother that Sanchez had been sexually abusing her, the release stated.
Detective Maria Scott of the Princeton Police Department led the investigation. Officials interviewed the victim at the Children’s Advocacy Center of Collin County, where she gave a detailed account of the abuse.
The Collin County Sheriff’s Office initially arrested Sanchez on September 9, 2024, according to court records. Prosecutors charged him with two counts of “indecency with a child by sexual contact,” after he reportedly committed one assault on August 22 and another on September 3.
Sanchez posted bond, according to jail records. But prosecutors also charged him with two counts of stalking children under warrants from the Milam County Sheriff’s Office, near College Station. He was arrested again on July 21, 2025.
The suspect faced a jury trial on September 6, 2025, according to court records. Judge Rayburn Nall oversaw the trial, and the jury sentenced him to life in prison.
Sanchez had a violent past, according to the news release. He was a registered sex offender, convicted in McLennan County in 2008 for indecency with a child by sexual contact. Sanchez was charged in September 2006 and sentenced in July 2008 to eight years in prison, according to court records. He was released just five years later, in 2013. Afterward, he moved to Princeton.
Prior to that, Sanchez was convicted in 1986 for attempted voluntary manslaughter.
“It’s unacceptable that someone who has already served time for sexually abusing a child chose to do it again,” Willis said in the release.
Assistant District Attorneys Wendy Correa and Alex Haynes prosecuted the case, with help from DA Investigators Greg Bowers and Jennifer Gomez, Victim Assistance Coordinator Jill Moore, and Legal Secretary Ramnpreet Kaur.
On ICE: Another Child Sex Assault
Just days earlier, on October 9, a Denton County jury sentenced Little Elm resident Christian Carmona to 24 years in prison — two consecutive 12-year terms for sexually abusing a child. Judge Steve Burgess ordered the sentences to be served consecutively.
Carmona was placed on hold for ICE, suggesting he entered the country illegally, according to Denton County Jail records. He faced two charges of “indecency with a child by sexual contact” – each with a $35,000 bond – for assaults on July 18, 2022.
Attorney General Ken Paxton’s Fugitive Apprehension Unit provided information to the Little Elm Police Department, which led to Carmona’s initial arrest. According to jail records, officers with the department booked him into jail on November 28, 2022.
Assistant District Attorneys Jesse Eyer and Barrett Doran prosecuted Carmona in court, with help from DA Investigator Heather Styne and Victim Liaison Amber Dunn, according to the release. Little Elm police initially investigated the case.
Last Month in Collin County, police busted five men for alleged sex crimes, ranging from sex assault of a child, prohibited sex conduct, to possession of material showing sex assault, as The Dallas Express reported. One suspect, Jacob Allred, was a teacher at Great Lakes Academy in Plano when a 15-year-old girl accused him of grooming and inappropriate advances.
In Denton County, police arrested five suspects for reported sex crimes in June and early July, as The Dallas Express also reported. These crimes ranged from aggravated sex assault of a child, burglary of a home with intent to commit a sex crime, to indecent exposure.
