A Little Elm man was arrested Tuesday on a murder charge, according to county jail records.
The Denton County Sheriff’s Office booking log shows Corey V. Green, 37, was taken into custody just after midnight on September 9. Green was booked into the county jail on one count of murder. His arresting agency was the Little Elm Police Department.
It was not clear if Green’s booking is connected to a shooting that Little Elm police reported late Monday night. In that incident, it was reported that “one person is dead and a suspect is in custody after an overnight shooting,” according to a report from WFAA. Police said they responded to a call around 9:04 p.m. September 8 in the 2300 block of O Keefe Drive, where they found a victim with a gunshot wound who later died at a hospital. The suspect “left the area before police arrived but later turned themself in,” WFAA reported, citing a police press release.
Green has had previous run-ins with the law this year, according to Denton County court records. In July, prosecutors filed misdemeanor cases against him for driving while intoxicated and assault causing bodily injury stemming from January 24 arrests. Both cases remain active, and court filings show arraignment hearings were set for September 9, the same day he was booked into jail on the murder charge.
Green hired attorney Michael Casillas from Frisco for the earlier cases, according to court filings. Casillas did not respond to a request for comment. Little Elm police have not yet responded to calls and text messages from DX seeking information about Green’s arrest or any connection to the reported overnight shooting.
Green remained in custody as of Tuesday afternoon with no release date listed, according to Denton County jail records.
