A woman from Denton has been accused of injury to a child in connection to her son’s death, police said.

Authorities said that they arrested Sabrina Ho on April 5 for her suspected role in the death of her 7-year-old son, a crime allegedly committed by her boyfriend on April 1.

Ho told detectives that she was in the bedroom when her boyfriend called her into the hallway. She claimed when she got to the hallway, she saw her child on the ground and struggling to breathe. She also said that his eyes had rolled back in his head.

Police said Ho called 911 five hours later. When paramedics arrived at the home, the child was unconscious. The paramedics took him to the hospital, where he died.

The police report states the child had swelling on his neck, numerous facial abrasions, and bruises covering his face and body. He also sustained puncture wounds and multiple other injuries, including a burn on his shoulder.

The boyfriend is identified as 52-year-old Todd Lofton Shaw.

The report states that Ho said in her interview with detectives that she and Shaw had been together for several months. She also said their relationship had been on and off.

According to the arrest report obtained by CBS News, Ho told investigators that her boyfriend was abusing her son, and she was aware of it. Police said Ho admitted that Shaw allegedly abused her son for 4 weeks, yet she failed to leave him. She also said she did not seek medical attention for the child out of fear of retribution.

Investigators also said that Ho admitted that she prevented her son from going to school to hide the alleged abuse.

According to police, Ho said that Shaw made a box and placed it over the child’s head to silence his breathing.

Shaw was arrested on April 2 and charged with injury to a child. He is being held in the Denton County Jail on a $1 million bond. Ho is at the same jail with her bond set at $500,000.
