A model was arrested on Wednesday in connection with the April 3 fatal stabbing of her boyfriend, a Plano man.

Courtney Clenney, accused of stabbing Christian Obumseli, was arrested on August 10 in Hawaii. After being extradited to Miami-Dade County, where the stabbing occurred, the OnlyFans model will face a charge of second-degree murder in the killing.

Miami police responded to One Paraiso Residences, a luxury condominium building, on April 3 after Clenney alerted them. On arrival, officers found Obumseli with a single stab wound to the chest. The 27-year-old was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Authorities said there had been a physical altercation between Clenney and Obumseli right before the stabbing.

Police detained Clenney and took her to a mental institution in compliance with Florida’s Baker Act, which allows people at risk of suicide or mental health crisis to be given emergency mental health services and temporary detention. She was released.

Police didn’t release Clenney’s name at first. However, it later became known that the person behind the stabbing was Clenney, an OnlyFans model and social media influencer.

Obumseli’s friends told CBS Miami that the incident happened not long after Obumseli moved to the city with his girlfriend. Obumseli is a Plano East Senior High School and Texas Tech University graduate. His family said he would have turned 28 a week after he died.

Clenney has millions of followers on her social media accounts, for which she goes by the name Courtney Tailor.

The circumstances that led to the stabbing were not clear. However, authorities said there had been domestic disturbances between Clenney and Obumseli before the day of his death. Police also said they received multiple disturbance calls from the Austin home the couple formerly shared.

Clenney’s attorney, Frank Prieto, claimed she acted in self-defense when stabbing Obumseli. She had traveled to Hawaii for a substance-abuse rehabilitation program, Prieto said in an interview, according to Yahoo.com.

Despite her self-defense claims, Obumseli’s family said they did not believe that was the case. Obumseli’s family members described him as a free-spirited person who gave freely. “From the moment he was born, Toby’s radiant personality was on full display,” a message on his obituary read. A GoFundMe created after his death described him as a highly compassionate person “with a desire always to uplift those around him.”

The relatives called for her arrest when charges were not filed against Clenney.

It is unclear why police decided to arrest Clenney now, as her arrest warrant was sealed at the time of this reporting.
