A McDonald’s employee in Springtown, Texas, was arrested on Sunday after allegedly using a personal device to steal hundreds of dollars from customers through fraudulent card charges.

Giovanni Primo Blount, 19, of Poolville, faces charges for allegedly double-charging customers during legitimate transactions at the fast-food restaurant.

Police say Blount processed regular customer payments, then used a personal device to re-enter their cards. The second charge — typically $10 to $20 — went directly to an account he controlled.

Investigators believe Blount stole approximately $680 before his arrest early Sunday morning. The scheme apparently targeted multiple customers over an undetermined period.

Springtown Police Department urged anyone who recently visited the McDonald’s to check their bank statements immediately. Some victims have already received refunds, though police want all affected customers to come forward.

Detective V. Thomas is handling the investigation and can be reached at (817) 220-0828. Customers can also email [email protected] to report suspicious charges.

In a Facebook post, Springtown police advised the following safety measures:

• Review bank and credit card statements frequently, including pending transactions
• Set up transaction alerts through your bank or card issuer for real-time notifications
• Report suspicious charges immediately to your financial institution
• Avoid handing your card out of sight when possible
• Use mobile wallets or contactless payments that tokenize card information and prevent any third party from having physical control of your card
• Regularly change PINs and online banking passwords
• Check credit reports periodically for unfamiliar activity
