A Denton County jury found the man who shot a police officer in 2019 guilty on two counts of aggravated assault against a public servant.
On October 29, 2019, Officer Urban Rodriguez was shot during a routine traffic stop at a Taco Bell on University Drive.
According to authorities, the officer was hit in the head and leg. However, he survived and was taken to the hospital, where he received treatment for his wounds.
The suspects fled the scene in their vehicle. However, police determined the shooter to be Antwon Pinkston. Pinkston was arrested and charged with aggravated assault against a public servant.
Pinkston’s guilty verdict was given on March 31, with the punishment phase set to begin on April 1. Now convicted, he faces between 25 to 99 years or life in prison.
