Dallas police shot a man after he allegedly pulled a gun during an arrest attempt on Wednesday at a convenience store, according to a press release. The encounter followed a prior failed traffic stop earlier involving the same man.

The shooting occurred on July 27, around 11:30 p.m., in the 13000 block of Jupiter Road near I-635. When police tried to take the unidentified man into custody, he allegedly resisted and pulled out a firearm, resulting in the suspect being shot by one of the officers.

The suspect was taken to a nearby hospital, where he is in critical condition. No other injuries were reported.

Earlier in the evening, officers attempted a traffic stop after witnessing a drug deal in the convenience store’s parking lot. Patrol officers and an Air One helicopter pursued the driver after the driver did not stop, but police lost sight of the car.

Soon after, police discovered the vehicle back at the same gas station, with the suspect driver inside the store, prompting them to make the arrest.

The Office of Police Oversight and the District Attorney’s Office of Dallas County were alerted and responded to the incident. An investigation is ongoing.

You people are always getting on social sites to try and make subliminal race comments. It’s simply wrong for someone to commit a crime no matter what color they are. Stop throwing stones and hiding your hands.
