Police are asking for help in locating a man who evaded arrest on Thursday while at the Dallas Police Department’s registration office for sex offenders.
The man, 42-year-old Juan Francisco Martinez, was at the office when a background check was run that revealed he had a warrant for arrest. It was a felony warrant for a family-violence charge.
Martinez was placed under arrest, but in the midst of filing paperwork, he fled from the building and drove off in a white van with a white roof rack.
In 2006, Martinez was sentenced to five years in prison for the aggravated sexual assault of a 14-year-old. In 2016, he was sentenced to two years in prison for attempted sexual assault.
Anyone with information about the accused’s whereabouts should contact Detective David Cervantez at 214-671-3689 or by email at [email protected].
