Dallas Police have detained a 65-year-old man in connection with the death of a Duncanville woman who was reported missing on Monday.

Clinton Smith was arrested on Friday and taken to the Dallas County Jail, charged with murdering 54-year-old Juanita Rodriguez. The victim died from a gunshot wound.

On Tuesday, officers discovered Rodriguez’s vehicle abandoned on Navy Avenue in Dallas after she missed two days of work.

At around 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, officers in the Mountain Creek area discovered her body wrapped in a plastic tarp by the side of the road in the 3000 block of South Ledbetter Drive. Near West Kiest Boulevard, the location was not far from where her vehicle had been found the day before.

The details of when and where Rodriguez died remain unknown. An investigation into her death is underway. Anyone with information regarding the case is asked to contact Dallas Detective John Valdez at 214-671-3623.
