A man was arrested Tuesday afternoon for allegedly throwing rocks at cars on Montfort Drive near a Chick-fil-A restaurant.

Dallas resident Connor Brubaker said he was driving on Montfort Drive toward Belt Line Road when he saw a man with no shirt on the road who seemed flustered. The man was pacing back and forth.

“As I was about to turn past him, he bent down and threw a rock which crashed through my back windshield,” Brubaker told The Dallas Express.

Brubaker said that while calling the police, he saw the man throw rocks at about 10 other vehicles. Soon after, several police vehicles arrived, and officers surrounded the man.

One plainclothes officer was allegedly hit in the arm or upper body with a rock, according to Brubaker.

Police used a taser to subdue the man, and he was taken into an ambulance, from which he could be heard shouting.

Officers on the scene said they believed the suspect was suffering from mental health or substance abuse issues, the eyewitness stated.

A Dallas Police Department spokesperson confirmed to The Dallas Express that one police officer was hit by a rock but was not seriously injured.

The DPD spokesperson said no other injuries were reported, and only one car was damaged. The spokesperson did not say whether the man had been charged with any crimes, only that an investigation was still pending.

At least five police cars were on the scene at the Prestonwood Town Center near the Chick-fil-A. The eyewitness reported seeing 10 police officers at the time of the incident, some in plain clothes and some in uniform.

Brubaker echoed the DPD’s assessment of the man’s state of mind.

“It was definitely either mental health or drugs,” he said.

The incident occurred in City Council Member Jaynie Schultz’s District 11 in North Dallas.
