A Dallas man was taken into custody on Sunday morning after police say he shot at another vehicle along the North Central Expressway.

Lajon Fitzgerald Martin, 28, allegedly followed and shot at a group of people as they drove away, prompting a car chase in the early hours of February 12, according to police.

Martin reportedly led multiple police agencies on the vehicle chase, which at times exceeded 100 mph, according to Fox 4.

The chase went through Richardson and back to Dallas, where he was taken into custody, police said.

The Richardson Police Department arrested Martin, according to Dallas Police Department spokesperson Melinda Gutierrez, speaking to The Dallas Express.

The entire incident reportedly happened because Martin walked up to a group of people and tried to talk to them, only they did not want to talk to him.

The group of three individuals was apparently approached by Martin just after 1:30 a.m. as they were eating and talking near a business on Haskell Avenue.

According to reports, Martin became upset when the group did not want to speak with him.

The group left out of fear, and Martin followed them into Richardson and shot at their vehicle, police claim.

Police are investigating the incident.

The initial encounter took place at a business in the 2400 block of Haskell Avenue located in District 2, which is represented by Dallas City Councilmember Jesse Moreno.

Moreno has been the subject of The Dallas ExpressCrime Boss series multiple times.

Violent crime in Dallas continues to increase, swelling by 9% this year, according to the Dallas Crime Analytics Overview dashboard.
