Dallas police arrested 16 people and seized guns and drugs during a major sweep through South Dallas on October 3, per an October 20 press release.

The joint operation targeted criminal activity in the southwest area. The coordinated effort demonstrates how focused police work can disrupt violent crime patterns that plague neighborhoods. Multiple units worked together to execute the high-impact operation.

Officers from the Southwest and South Central Patrol Divisions joined forces with the Gang and Place Network Investigations Units. The operation netted two firearms, a stolen vehicle, and various illegal drugs.

Among those arrested was Trayshawn Hall, 29, who faced three felony probation violations. His charges included narcotics and manslaughter violations.

Jeffrey Eckels, 40, was arrested on outstanding warrants for felony amounts of heroin. Brandon Tristan, 24, initially faced a family violence warrant before officers identified him as a robbery suspect.

Tristan received an additional charge of aggravated robbery following the identification. The arrests highlight the operation’s broad scope.

The investigation led officers to Edward Gallegos, 42, who was wanted on multiple first-degree felonies. His charges included aggravated assault involving family violence and felony drug offenses.

Dallas SWAT arrested Gallegos with assistance from the Cockrell Hill Police Department. The arrest required specialized tactical support.

“Proactive policing disrupts the cycle of violence that harms our community,” said South Patrol Group Deputy Chief Kylee Hawks. “By focusing our resources, we are making good arrests and keeping our neighbors safe.”

Police documented the investigations under case numbers 083932-2024, 141843-2025, and 142482-2025. The operation marks a significant enforcement action in ongoing efforts to reduce area crime.
