The Collin County sheriff’s office found more than half a million dollars worth of methamphetamine during a traffic stop last week.
Collin County sheriff’s department stopped a white F-150 on US-75 near Exchange Parkway in Allen, Texas. The driver agreed to a search of the vehicle.
The vehicle search yielded exposure of a hidden compartment in the car housing approximately 20 kilograms of meth. The average dose of meth is 0.2 grams, meaning that the vehicle was carrying about 1,000,000 doses of meth.Â
In 2016, according to Texas Health and Human Services, 1.2 percent of students reported using meth at least once.
Texas law dictates possessing this amount of meth is an enhanced first-degree felony, punishable by 10 to 99 years in prison and a $100,000 fine.Â
The Collin County sheriff’s office estimated the value of the drugs to be $563,200. There was two personnel in the vehicle when the traffic stop was executed. They are both allegedly El Paso residents and were arrested following officers finding the meth.
An investigation into the incident is still ongoing.Â
The Dallas Express reported that the U.S. Customs and Border Protection seized over $1.6 million worth of meth in June at the Texas-Mexico border.Â
Throw the book at them. El Paso “residents” but were they here lawfully? I doubt it.
