A Fort Worth woman suffered a gunshot wound while sleeping in her first-floor bedroom on Tuesday.

Fort Worth PD officers responded to a shooting call at the Carmen Apartments located in the 2700 block of Dawn W. on August 16 at about 4:49 a.m.

Responding officers found a woman with a single gunshot wound to her upper body. The victim’s bedroom window faced the 9200 block of North Normandale Street.

Police said the suspect fired a bullet through the woman’s window from the apartment yard or the roadway, striking the woman in her upper body. The unidentified suspect fled the scene.

The victim was transported to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital in stable condition. Authorities did not say whether she was an actual target of the shooting. Neither was the victim’s identity revealed.

It is not clear whether police have a person of interest, but an investigation remains ongoing.
