Fort Worth police are looking for two individuals accused of executing mock robberies at Family Dollar stores.
According to a police report, two men went into the Family Dollar at 7320 S. Hulen St. on February 25.
One of the men had what appeared to be an item that “he portrayed as a gun” while the other man recorded a video of the offense, said police.
“Get down! This is a stick up,” the man with the “gun” said as he pointed it at a cashier, according to police.
After leaving in a two-door black Toyota, police said the men went to another Family Dollar at 8500 McCart Ave. and allegedly did the same thing.
One suspect is described as a black male approximately 6 feet tall. He wore gray hoodie and sweatpants, white shoes, black sunglasses, and a red hat with the American flag on it.
The other suspect is described as a stocky black male with a beard, wearing black sweatpants and a red “Rockets” hoodie.
Police tweeted security camera footage from one of the prank robberies, commenting, “A Prank Robbery – is still a Robbery!”
The Fort Worth police urge anyone with information about the robberies to contact Robbery Detective Olson at 817-392-4377.
Although this robbery may have been a prank, real robberies are climbing in Dallas. According to the Crime Analytics Dashboard, robberies in March have already exceeded that of the same month last year with 80 compared to 76 — a more than 5% increase.
