The Arlington Police Department Fugitive Unit arrested a third suspect, 20-year-old Roderion Coleman, on April 22 in connection with the fatal shooting of 20-year-old Omar Mohammed Juma.

According to Arlington Police, the shooting incident occurred on March 16, 2021, at approximately 4:30 a.m. in the 8100 block of York Beach Place.

Investigators initially said Juma had been involved in a dispute with multiple suspects connected to his death. Investigators now believe that Juma and the suspects were involved in a “high-risk activity” and revealed that the suspects had allegedly tried to rob Juma during an arranged meeting.

The suspects reportedly arrived at the victim’s residence and confronted him, prompting Juma to retreat into his home and attempt to shut the front door. The suspects allegedly tried to force their way into the victim’s residence, but Juma and his brother held the door shut to keep them from entering the home.

Authorities said one of the suspects fired a shot through the door, striking Juma. Upon arrival, officers transported the victim to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Prior to Coleman’s arrest, Arlington police arrested 24-year-old Darrian Hammonds and 25-year-old Dillen Fields in connection to Juma’s death. According to the Arlington Police Department, detectives are now confident that they have apprehended all the suspects involved in the 20-year-old’s murder.

All three suspects were charged with capital murder and were being held at the Tarrant County Jail as of April 27, with no information given as to their bond status.

Arlington Police did not say if the suspects had any legal representatives.
