A shooting in Lewisville has left one dead and one wounded.
A woman was killed and a man was shot at the Norwood Mobile Home Park in Lewisville on October 22, according to a statement from the Lewisville Police Department. Officials said the shooting was isolated, and there is no threat to the public.
The Lewisville Fire Department and Lewisville police responded to a shooting near 400 E. State Highway 121 Business around 1 p.m., according to the statement.
When officers arrived, they found a man and a woman who had been shot. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, and Lewisville fire brought the man to a local hospital with critical injuries.
“Preliminary information suggests the male suspect shot the female victim, and then shot himself,” the statement reads.
Lewisville police asked the public to avoid the area at 1:25 p.m., while investigators processed the scene. At the time of publication, detectives were still investigating the circumstances of the shooting – including the relationship between the man and the woman.
The medical examiner will release the woman’s identity after her next-of-kin have been notified, and Lewisville police will provide additional details as soon as possible.
The Dallas Express asked Lewisville police for comment, but a media representative pointed to the department’s statement.
