Officers with the Lewisville Police Department arrested a suspect after a disabled 13-year-old girl disappeared this weekend.
Lewisville police arrested 60-year-old Earl Wilder in the alleged kidnapping of Emerie Metcalf, a 13-year-old disabled girl, according to the Denton Record-Chronicle. Metcalf went missing Saturday, according to the Lewisville police department. Soon after police activated an AMBER alert, she was reunited with her family.
Lewisville officers booked Wilder into the Denton County Jail on July 14. According to jail records, he faces a felony charge for enticing a child away from his or her custodian on July 12. Wilder’s listed address is in South Dallas, at 2755 E. Ledbetter Drive.
Before her disappearance, Metcalf was last seen near 1200 S. Highway 121 in Lewisville, at 11:35 p.m. on July 12, according to the city’s police. She was wearing a white shirt, black pants with a butterfly pattern, and colorful shoes.
The suspect in the “abduction” was described as a black male with a blue and gray polo shirt, with a drawstring backpack.
Lewisville police posted the initial alert just after 5 a.m. on July 13. Then, just before 6:30 a.m., they announced Metcalf had been found and was being “reunited with her family.”
“LPD is still investigating,” the department posted at the time. “We appreciate the prompt assistance of the public.”
The Dallas Express requested a comment from the Lewisville Police Department. An officer stated that he was working on a statement but did not respond in time for publication. This article will be updated once the department has commented.
