Officers with the Lewisville Police Department arrested a suspect wanted in multiple armed robberies, according to a September 18 press release.
Lewisville police arrested 19-year-old Mario Anaya on September 16 for allegedly committing a string of armed robberies across the last two months. He faces two charges of aggravated robbery and one charge of interfering with an emergency call for help.
“The Lewisville Police Department commends the tireless efforts of its detectives and officers for their swift investigative work, which led to the identification and arrest of Anaya,” the department posted. “This is a prime example of the dedication, and commitment to public safety that our department strives to achieve every day.”
Anaya is currently in the Lewisville Jail, facing a $110,000 total bond – $50,000 on each charge for aggravated robbery, and $10,000 on the charge for interfering with an emergency call.
Lewisville police released surveillance images on September 9, asking the public to help identify the suspect, as The Dallas Express reported at the time. Investigators considered the suspect “armed and dangerous,” and warned members of the public to refrain from approaching him.
The suspect allegedly used a gun to commit “multiple offenses” in South Lewisville, specifically the area surrounded by S. I-35E, S. State Highway 121 Business, and E. Corporate Drive. He allegedly committed a recent robbery in the first week of September.
Anaya reportedly committed vehicle burglary and unlawful use of a “criminal instrument” on September 4, according to Denton County Jail records. The Corinth Police Department booked him on September 5, but he posted a $4,000 total bond and was released the same day.
Investigators are still gathering evidence. Lewisville police urged anyone with information to contact Detective K. Kelly at 972-219-3661 or [email protected]. They can also contact Denton County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-388-TIPS.
