U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement announced a series of arrests on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day involving criminal illegal aliens convicted of serious offenses, including sexual crimes against children, murder, attempted murder, and fraud.

In a statement released Friday, ICE said the enforcement actions reflect continued efforts to remove what the agency described as the “worst of the worst criminal illegal aliens” from American communities.

“ICE law enforcement secures our streets every single day, including over the holiday season,” said Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin. “They rang in the New Year with the removal of pedophiles, murderers, and fraudsters from American neighborhoods.”

According to ICE, those arrested include:

  • Luis Miguel Gonzalez-Castillo, a criminal illegal alien from Mexico convicted of aggravated sexual assault of a child in Harris County, Texas
  • Brallan Josue Garcia-Castro, a criminal illegal alien from Honduras convicted of sexual assault and child endangerment in Morris County, New Jersey
  • Angel Marin-Cruz, a criminal illegal alien from Mexico convicted of indecent liberties with a child in Forsyth County, North Carolina
  • Marvin McGregor, a criminal illegal alien from Jamaica convicted of third-degree murder and firearms offenses in Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania
  • Desiderio Marte Vargas, a criminal illegal alien from the Dominican Republic convicted of attempted murder and unlawful possession of a weapon in Paterson, New Jersey
  • Guillermo Ibarra-Reyes, a criminal illegal alien from Mexico convicted of attempted premeditated murder in Los Angeles County, California
  • Victor Guerrero, a criminal illegal alien from Honduras convicted of fraud, drug offenses, counterfeit credit card crimes, and identity offenses in Tampa, Florida
  • Karen Empaynado, a criminal illegal alien from the Philippines convicted of burglary, grand theft, and battery in Deltona, Florida
  • Rinaldy Jesus Turcios-Flores, a criminal illegal alien from Honduras convicted of grand larceny and identity fraud in Prince William County, Virginia
  • Yusney Figueroa Arguelles, a criminal illegal alien from Cuba convicted of armed robbery in Orlando, Florida

ICE did not disclose whether the individuals have already been removed from the country or the status of ongoing removal proceedings. The agency said enforcement efforts remain focused on criminal illegal aliens as part of its public safety mission.
