Nearly a year after a 24-year-old man was murdered in Fort Worth, authorities are still searching for the person behind the killing.
On September 11, 2021, Hamzah Faraj was driving with his wife, Ivalia Cerna, close to the intersection of Altamesa Boulevard and Kingswood Drive at around 8 p.m. when they were shot at. Cerna and Faraj were newlyweds.
Cerna, who survived the shooting, told FOX 4 that they had been trying to deliver a food order when they came across a gray four-door Dodge pickup from which shots were fired at them. Police said witnesses confirmed the vehicle involved.
“The truck just came really close to us and he hit the horn,” she recalled, “so I guess they got mad and hit the horn back on us.”
Cerna, who was sitting in the passenger seat, said Faraj turned left onto Kingswood Drive, and that was when the back window of the truck rolled down, and someone opened fire at them.
Cerna, however, said she could not get a good look at the shooter or anybody else in the truck as the shooting happened in a blur. “We were just trying to make a living like everyone else, and just because of a hit of a horn,” she said.
In a September 7 announcement, the Fort Worth Police Department stated that the murder case remains unsolved and asked the public to help by coming forward with any new information. Anyone with information about the case is urged to contact 817-392-4382.
