Three ladies were shot in a salon in northwest Dallas on Wednesday afternoon, leaving police to search for the gunman.

Around 2:20 p.m. on May 11, a man stopped his car in the 2200 block of Royal Lane, near Interstate 35E.  According to authorities, he entered Hair World Salon and opened fire.

All three women were transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Dallas Police Sgt. Warren Mitchell stated the man said something incoherent and started shooting once he was inside.

Hair World Salon is located in a neighborhood containing several Korean-owned businesses.

Jeremy Kim, who works for a nearby Korean Radio Station, wants to know why the salon was singled out.

“You know, there are so many businesses around here, and he just specified a Korean-owned hair salon and came in and fired a gun,” said Kim. “So just worrying what was the reason.”

Sgt. Mitchell told KDFW that while no proof of a hate crime has been found, the possibility has not been ruled out.

“We haven’t said that it’s not, but we haven’t seen any indication that at this time that it is one,” said Mitchell. “Again, we are in the early stages of this investigation, and we’ve not yet seen anything indicating at this time that this is a hate crime-related incident.”

“It’s disturbing that for whatever reason might be, whether it’s just an argument or whatever, for someone to just run up in there and start shooting,” he added.

According to police, the man is approximately 5’7″ to 5’10” tall, slim build, with curly medium-length hair and a beard, and was dressed in all black.

Dallas Police released surveillance camera images of the shooter, running while clutching a large firearm. A maroon minivan was also shown, which police suspect the man was riding in.

According to authorities, the investigation into the shooting is still underway.
