A man was shot in a DeSoto apartment on Thursday, which led to police confiscating drugs and a firearm, according to a DeSoto Police Department news release.
Around 11 a.m. on June 2, DeSoto police arrived at Thorn Manor Apartments in the 300 block of West Wintergreen Road to find a wounded resident shot in the leg. The 26-year-old man was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
The initial investigation led the authorities to obtain a search warrant. When executed, they seized two pounds of marijuana and an AR-15 pistol from the victim’s apartment. The AR-15 pistol is a smaller version of the AR-15-style semi-automatic rifle.
Officers spoke with the victim and witnesses about the shooting. One eyewitness described the accused shooter’s vehicle as a white Nissan, most likely a Maxima or Altima, with yellow plates.
Terry Baker, support services captain, told The Dallas Express there are currently no leads on the suspect, and investigators are still following up.
Pending further investigation, the wounded victim could face charges for the marijuana and firearm seized, according to Baker. He added that the hospital had already released the gunshot victim.
Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact the DeSoto Police Department’s Criminal Investigative Division at 469-658-3050.
