Grapevine police have dismantled a sophisticated crime ring accused of stealing $10 million worth of high-end electronics and goods from warehouses across North Texas. Seven suspects now face felony charges for organized criminal activity following months of investigation, Fox 4 reported.
The group’s tactics included cutting holes into warehouse doors to access valuable items. In one heist in May, they stole $500,000 worth of Ray-Ban sunglasses and VR headsets. Surveillance footage captured suspects sneaking boxes through a hole in a garage door and using a stolen box truck to haul the goods.
Police pieced together evidence from multiple burglaries in cities like Plano, Coppell, and Fort Worth. Surveillance videos, drones, and license plate tracking helped link the suspects, along with cellphone records that revealed their coordination.
The investigation wasn’t without challenges. In August, police tried to intercept a burglary but only managed to catch one suspect that night. The remaining arrests were made between August and November.
The seven arrested suspects, all from the Dallas area, are believed to have operated the crime ring for over a year. Grapevine Police Sgt. Oscar Ramirez said their familiarity with equipment and methods allowed them to execute precise operations until authorities tracked their patterns.
With no other suspects currently sought, police are relieved to have brought the group to justice. “We are ecstatic that we could get one for the good guys,” Ramirez said.
