Police continue to search for the driver of the car who struck and killed a local grandfather on Friday night.

A few minutes before 10:00, 75-year-old Juan Garcia was hit in a hit-and-run incident while crossing the street in a Fort Worth neighborhood.

Officers responded to the intersection of Vaughn Boulevard and Avenue H at about 9:50 p.m. on August 12. Upon arrival, they found a man had been hit by a vehicle. A car driven northbound by a driver failing to yield the right of way had hit him.

The Tarrant County medical examiner listed the official time of death as 10:02 p.m. and Garcia was found dead at the scene.

Garcia’s son, Andres said, “I really would love justice. I really would love some kind of closure, something. It wasn’t his time. Everyone has their time, but I don’t think this was his.”

Authorities said the driver fled the scene and had not been located by Saturday when the announcement was made. Additional information regarding the incident was not available.

On Sunday, August 14, Garcia and his wife would have celebrated their fifty-first wedding anniversary.
