A Fort Worth man was sentenced on Thursday to 50 years in prison for the shooting death of his wife in 2024.

Christopher Robertson, 33, was taken into custody last year after confessing to police that he killed his wife, Krystalynn Robertson, 34.

The murder first came to light on April 19 when the suspect’s brother arrived home after being away for several days. He noticed a strong foul smell in the house that he shared with his brother and other family members. The suspect was “extremely intoxicated,” and the victim’s body was wrapped inside a blue tarp inside his bedroom.

The brother called the police who came to the scene, but the suspect was not arrested at that time. The police report says that Christopher Robertson was “too intoxicated to understand what I was saying or provide a meaningful response,” per the police affidavit.

The following day, Robertson called 911 and confessed to murdering his wife.

“My father-in-law is going to kill me,” Robertson said on the recorded 911 call. “I actually killed his daughter.”

On April 21, police returned to the home to follow up on the 911 call, and Robertson again confessed to shooting his wife in the head. He reportedly handed police his gun and said he wanted to go to jail. He has been in The Tarrant County Jail since then awaiting his sentencing hearing.

The medical examiner’s report found that Krystalynn Robertson had been dead for about a week when her body was discovered. She had been shot in the face and bruising was observed around her neck.

Krystalynn Robertson was the mother of five children. Her family told WFAA they had repeatedly warned her to leave her husband.

The suspect reportedly had a previous history of violence.  Crowley police department records indicate that he was arrested in 2017 for making terroristic threats against family members, according to WFAA.
