A former Rockwall firefighter is facing child pornography charges.
Officers with the Rockwall Police Department executed a search warrant last month after receiving a tip from the Center for Missing and Exploited Children, according to Fox 4 KDFW.
The agency told police that they suspected pornographic photos and videos of children were being sent from an IP address within the city of Rockwall.
Officers reportedly found enough evidence following the execution of the search warrant to charge Jason Frankenfield, 43, with possession or promotion of child pornography.
Frankenfield was booked into the Rockwall County Jail on June 28 and posted a $100,000 bond the following day, The Dallas Morning News reported.
Police believe that the images did not include any minors living in Rockwall.
An assistant chief from the Rockwall Fire Department told DMN that Frankenfield had worked for the department since June 2018 before resigning in June 2024.
In Dallas, police have logged 33 criminal incidents involving pornography or obscene materials, according to the City of Dallas crime analytics dashboard.
A number of public employees in North Texas have been charged with sex crimes involving minors, including several Texas teachers, as covered by The Dallas Express.
A Mansfield ISD teacher was fired after allegations surfaced that they were engaging in an inappropriate relationship with a student. The school board fired the teacher “out of an abundance of caution,” a district representative told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
Last year, a Dallas ISD teacher was arrested for maintaining an improper relationship with a student, as covered by The Dallas Express.
Qasim Ali Frazier, a 38-year-old teacher at Bryan Adams High School Leadership Academy, was taken into custody. The victim was a 14-year-old 10th grader who received several messages and late-night calls after he obtained her phone number, according to the affidavit.
“The complainant said the suspect told her he wanted her to be in his bed and to have sex with her. The complainant said the suspect wanted to have kids with her. The complainant also stated the suspect contacted her over the phone. While talking over the phone, the suspect was masturbating while talking to her over the phone,” the affidavit reads.
