Former Dallas Cowboys defensive end Greg Hardy was arrested Wednesday in Richardson, Texas, on charges of assaulting a family member.

Hardy, 36, was booked into the Richardson Jail at approximately 2:30 p.m. on a charge of assault causing bodily injury to a family member, as reported by TMZ.

A warrant for the arrest states that officers were called to the residence around 2 p.m., and a woman told officers that the two began arguing when they returned from the park with their children, per NBC 5 DFW.

The woman claimed that she confronted Hardy about messages on his phone, and he told her to get out of his face, which she did not do.

Hardy allegedly threw the woman onto the bed and held her down by her neck, though she claimed that her breathing was not restricted and she was able to use her knees to kick Hardy off.

The warrant then states that Hardy pushed her away, took the car keys, and left the residence, per NBC 5.

Hardy was then taken to jail and paid a $1,000 bond to be released.

This arrest marks the latest in a series of legal issues for Hardy, who previously faced a high-profile domestic violence case in 2014 involving his ex-girlfriend, Nicole Holder.

This incident involved claims from Holder that Hardy threw her against a bathroom wall and dragged her by her hair, along with the release of various photos of Holder’s injuries from the alleged incident, according to Fox 4 DFW.

In 2016, Hardy was arrested in Richardson on charges of felony possession of a controlled substance after police found cocaine in his vehicle during a traffic stop.

Hardy began his career with the Carolina Panthers after being drafted in the sixth round in 2010. He spent five years with the franchise before signing with the Cowboys for the 2015 season.

During his lone season with America’s Team, Hardy collected just 35 total tackles and six sacks.

After his football career ended, Hardy transitioned to mixed martial arts and competed in several UFC bouts.

Since becoming a mixed martial arts fighter, Hardy has amassed an overall record of 7-5, though he has lost three straight fights and has not participated in a single match since 2022.
