A woman was observed setting fire to a warehouse in Kansas City that had previously been considered for use as a federal immigration detention center, according to police reports.

Witnesses stated that the fire was ignited just before 5:50 p.m. on February 12 at a warehouse located near Missouri Highway 150 and Botts Road in south Kansas City, Missouri, as reported by KSHB.

Witnesses told police that a woman approached the building, sprayed an unknown substance on it, and ignited the material, per authorities. Video from a KMBC television news crew showed flames flaring briefly along the building’s windows before firefighters extinguished them.

An anchor describing the video said the woman threw what appeared to be a liquid onto the windows before the fire started.

The Kansas City Fire Department responded and put out the blaze before it spread, and no injuries were reported, officials said. Bomb and Arson detectives are investigating the incident as an arson case.

As of late February 12, no arrests had been made, and the suspect was not in custody, a police spokesperson told Newsweek.

The warehouse had drawn public attention in recent weeks after it was reportedly under consideration for sale to the federal government for use as an Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention facility.

Earlier this year, Department of Homeland Security and ICE officials were seen touring the 900,000-square-foot property, according to Newsweek.

The building’s owner, Platform Ventures, announced on February 12 that it would “not … move forward” with a sale of the site to the U.S. government, according to KSHB reporting.

Police said the investigation remains ongoing.
