Multiple reports indicate that a shooting occurred in a Downtown Dallas apartment complex Thursday afternoon, with at least three people confirmed injured.
As many as two dozen police cruisers could be seen in the vicinity of The Continental at Mercantile Place building on Commerce Street after more than a dozen shots were heard.
Police have not said whether a suspect has been identified or if anyone is in custody.
Dayana Bailey, 54, a resident of The Continental, told The Dallas Morning News that she saw blood in a hallway and elevator in the building.
”My lease isn’t supposed to be up until later this year, but let me tell you, it ends today,” she said. “I don’t feel safe anymore.”
Officers were dispatched to the scene around 12:15 p.m., according to an update by Dallas Police Department Lt. Tramese Jones, per NBC 5 DFW.
Jones confirmed that three individuals sustained gunshot wounds.
CBS News Texas reported that all three victims are expected to survive. Two are adults and one is a juvenile.
As previously reported by The Dallas Express, Downtown Dallas routinely outpaces Fort Worth’s city center in terms of criminal activity. The latter is patrolled by private security guards and a special police unit.
This story is developing and will be updated pending further reports.
