A former Denton County detention officer has been arrested on a child pornography charge after a file-sharing service flagged suspicious material tied to his account, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.

Richard Caleb Goodman, 43, was booked into the Denton County jail on August 3 on a charge of possession with intent to promote child pornography. His bond was set at $100,000.

The investigation began after Dropbox reported to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that child sexual abuse material had been linked to Goodman’s account, according to the affidavit.

Denton County investigators obtained search warrants for Goodman’s Dropbox and Google accounts. Inside those accounts, investigators allegedly found additional files containing child pornography, along with an image of Goodman’s driver’s license, a W2 indicating he worked for Denton County, and email receipts for food orders delivered to the Denton County Sheriff’s Office, the affidavit stated.

Employment records cited in the affidavit showed Goodman had worked as a detention officer with the department since 2023.

The Denton County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Goodman is no longer employed with the department. The agency has not issued a statement on the arrest.
