Grand Prairie City Councilman Mike Del Bosque has been arrested and charged with two misdemeanors.
Del Bosque, listed in the police report as Miguel Angel Del Bosque, reportedly turned himself in to police on Wednesday and has been charged with assault causing bodily injury and criminal mischief.
An arrest warrant affidavit states that police were called on April 2 around 1 p.m. after the caller claimed that her husband, identified as real estate broker David Collantes, had been assaulted.
Upon arrival, police discovered that the couple were real estate brokers from Austin and were under the impression that the Intire Health Physician Group, an injury rehabilitation clinic, was for sale.
The affidavit states that the couple briefly entered the location before being followed by an employee upon departure, who called Del Bosque about the incident.
As the couple was leaving, Del Bosque, who is reportedly the owner of the clinic, arrived at the location and allegedly hit Collantes’ $2,000 phone out of his hand and pushed him to the ground “without provocation,” according to WFAA.
Del Bosque then allegedly hit Collantes with a closed fist in the head while Collantes was attempting to stand back up.
It is currently unclear whether the clinic was for sale at the time of the alleged assault, with an attorney claiming that the buyers have backed out of any potential deal due to fear of retaliation from Del Bosque.
“They feared retaliation if they bought the building. So we are back to square one on the sale,” said attorney Robert Berleth, per Fox 4 KDFW.
Detectives have said the incident was also caught on a security camera near the building.
Del Bosque has represented District 3 on the Grand Prairie City Council since he was first elected in 2017, though it is unclear how the arrest will affect his role.
A City of Grand Prairie spokesperson said the city is aware of the allegations.
“The City is not in a position to provide further comment due to the ongoing investigation regarding this matter,” wrote the city in a statement to WFAA.
