Dallas police are looking for suspects after a shooting took place in Deep Ellum Saturday that left two people injured.

On December 31, 2022, Dallas police responded to a shooting in the area of Main Street and North Crowdus Street.

The shooting occurred early Saturday morning, according to police, after a fight broke out between two groups of men just before 2 a.m.

When officers arrived on the scene, they found two people shot, the Dallas Police Department told The Dallas Express.

Both were taken to a local hospital by Dallas Fire-Rescue and were last listed in stable condition. However, the shooters fled the scene in a pickup truck, police said.

No further details have been released, and no arrests have been made.

The investigation is ongoing.

Deep Ellum is composed largely of arts and entertainment venues and is patrolled by various officers from the Central Patrol Division of the DPD.

The neighborhood sits in District 2, which is represented by Dallas City Councilmember Jesse Moreno. Moreno was named The Dallas Express‘ Crime Boss of the Month for December, the second month in a row he has earned the title.

The Dallas Express has been reporting on crime in the Deep Ellum neighborhood and reported last year that a new dedicated police unit was formed to help combat crimes in the popular neighborhood.

The dedicated police patrol is part of a 14-part safety plan that the police and the Deep Ellum neighborhood association have been trying to effectuate for over a year.
