A routine traffic stop in Dallas turned into a major drug bust over the weekend, with officers seizing nearly 500 grams of narcotics.
The operation netted cocaine, methamphetamines, and two arrests, DPD Beat reported. Officers working with the Street Racing Task Force discovered the drugs Saturday during what began as a speeding violation.
An undercover officer first spotted a gold 2007 GMC Yukon speeding near 11300 Garland Road in Northeast Dallas. Uniformed officers pulled over the vehicle on McCree Road.
The passenger, Jesus Jonathon Garza, had an outstanding warrant for parole violation related to burglary. Officers found cocaine on him during the arrest.
When the driver, Moises Perez Jr., couldn’t produce valid insurance, police towed the vehicle. The subsequent inventory search revealed the larger stash of narcotics. Two large bags containing white powder were hidden in a Crown Royal bag inside the center console, and two small red baggies with a white powdery substance were found elsewhere in the vehicle.
Police also found cash in various denominations, a pattern consistent with drug sales. After testing and weighing the powdered substances, police confirmed the seizure of 445.8 grams of cocaine and 47.7 grams of methamphetamines.
Perez faces charges for the manufacture and delivery of controlled substances and resisting arrest. Garza was arrested on his outstanding warrant.
“This arrest reflects the dedication our officers show every day as they work to remove dangerous drugs from our streets and protect our community,” said Major Gabriel Candelaria. The case is documented as #174772-2025.
