Dallas police are investigating the alleged sexual assault of a Dallas ISD student near a school in the Love Field area.

The student reported the attack happened about five blocks from the K.B. Polk Center for Academically Talented & Gifted, near Lemmon Avenue and West Mockingbird Lane, police said.

Police received a report of the incident on August 31, but it is unclear whether it occurred the same day it was reported.

Dallas police have not publicly confirmed details about the alleged attack, but the school told KDFW-TV that parents were sent letters about the incident last week.

“One of our students was approached by an unknown individual about five blocks away from campus and was attacked while walking to school,” said the letter to parents from the principal.

The letter describes the attacker as a “muscular white older male with brown hair, approximately 6-foot tall and wearing a blue flannel jacket at the time.”

Police and school officials have not released the age of the victimized child.

The school, which is only for elementary and middle school students, sits in the middle of a residential neighborhood where dozens of kids walk to and from school daily.

Police presence will reportedly be increased near the school and students are being encouraged to walk in groups in the aftermath of the alleged attack.

“It’s absolutely concerning, and it’s troubling. It’s important to, once again, remain vigilant,” said Robyn Harris, a school spokesperson. “Just to add that additional layer of safety.”

While Dallas police called the alleged attack an “isolated incident” and said nobody else was in danger, the department declined to say why it believes this was isolated and would not say if there was a suspect.

Police only called the investigation “very sensitive” and reiterated that it is still active.

The alleged sexual assault of a student walking to school in the area around Love Field did not occur, Dallas Police told KDFW-TV.

Police did not say how investigators learned the event did not happen or if anyone will be charged with making a false report.

Students and the public are not in danger, police said.
