Three men face multiple felony charges after allegedly shooting at a man who tracked his stolen vehicle from Lewisville to Dallas.
The suspects — Juliano Martinez, 25, Broderick Brown, 23, and Angel Hernandez, 25 — were arrested following a multi-agency pursuit that ended with a crash in Sachse.
The case highlights growing concerns about organized vehicle theft rings operating across North Texas jurisdictions. It also demonstrates how modern technology, like automated license plate readers, can aid law enforcement in tracking stolen vehicles across city boundaries.
Dallas police responded to the 6200 block of Melody Lane around 10:15 p.m. on September 24. The vehicle’s owner had arrived after being notified that his car was at that location.
The owner spotted the three suspects inside his vehicle and watched them drive away. He pursued the suspects, who responded by pointing a gun out the window and firing multiple shots.
Despite being shot at, the uninjured owner continued following until losing sight of the vehicle. Two days later, on September 26, the Northeast Patrol Crime Response Team alerted Garland Police that FLOCK cameras had spotted the stolen vehicle.
The suspects drove into Sachse, where they crashed and fled on foot into nearby woods. Five law enforcement agencies — Dallas, Garland, Mesquite, and Sachse police departments, along with the Texas Department of Public Safety — coordinated the search, eventually locating and arresting all three suspects.
Major Gabriel Candelaria of the Dallas Police Department praised the collaborative effort.
“Thanks to the relentless and selfless efforts of the Northeast Patrol Crime Response Team and our other law enforcement partners, we delivered swift and decisive justice — ridding our streets of this criminal element and activity. Our main priority continues to be the safety, well-being, and peace of mind for all who live, work, and visit our city.”
Martinez, Brown, and Hernandez face charges of aggravated assault, engaging in organized criminal activity, and evading arrest. They also face unauthorized use of a motor vehicle charges from Lewisville Police and aggravated robbery charges from Sachse Police.
